Understanding how to deal with the COVID-19 virus, and other infectious diseases, is critical for ongoing health. To help you learn the best ways of avoiding infection, TMG College Australia is offering non accredited online infection control training covering the fundamentals of infection prevention and control. Participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion upon successful completion of the module.
Module Content
This Module describes the skills and knowledge required to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks.
It includes information on how to:
Follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
Identify infection hazards and assess risks
Follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards
This Module acknowledges the importance of complying with an effective infection control strategy that ensures the safety of the Client (or end-user of health-related products/services), maintains personal protection and prevents the transmission of infections from person to person. The skills in this Module must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory Legislation, Australian/New Zealand Standards and Industry Codes of Practice.
Module Outcomes
You will learn among other things:
How to constantly apply standards infection control procedures at your workplace
How and when to apply additional infection control procedures
How to report and apply protocols to limit infection spread
The importance of effective communication skills in infection control procedures and management
How to use PPE (personal protective equipment)
Safe disposal of sharps
Causes of infections
Working as a team to combat infection control
Follow hand hygiene practices in accordance with organisations policies and procedures
Identify and respond to situations where additional precautions may be required to prevent transmission of infection
Document and report activities and tasks that put self, clients, visitors and/or other workers at risk
Identify, separate and maintain clean and contaminated zones

The duration is 4 hours of online learning
