This qualification reflects the role of individuals who lead a frontline team and manage day-to-day operations of a retail store or department to implement and deliver on organisational objectives and standards. These individuals possess a range of highly developed selling and customer engagement skills with sound knowledge of product and service offerings. They work with independence, taking responsibility for their own functions and outputs.
This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of retail settings including speciality retailers, supermarkets, department stores, and quick service restaurants.

The SIR40316 Certificate IV in Retail Management requires 11 units of competency:

SIRXHRM002 – Maintain employee relations
SIRXMGT002 – Lead a frontline team
SIRXRSK002 – Maintain store security
SIRXSLS003 – Achieve sales results
SIRXWHS003 – Maintain workplace safety
SIRXHRM001 – Recruit, select and induct team members
SITXHRM002 – Roster staff
SIRRINV002 – Control stock
BSBCUS401 – Coordinate implementation of customer service strategies
Credit Transfer and RPL offered: Recognition of prior learning and skills assessment
Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who:
Students are required to undertake a Pre-Training Review and a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment.
These will assist with determining suitability into course entry and identification of any support needs.

Mixed Mode Training
A combination of various delivery modes. Also known as "Mixed Delivery" or "Blended Learning". This includes Virtual, Face to Face and Workplace Based.
Successful completion of this qualification means you are eligible to enrol in the SIR50112 Diploma of Retail Management.

Eligibility Criteria 1. You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen. 2. You must not have completed the same AQF level qualification or higher than the course you wish to enrol in, unless under 20 years of age on 1 January this year. 3. You must not have commenced or be scheduled to commence more than two Victorian Government subsidised courses this year; and 4. You must not be currently enrolled in two or more Victorian Government subsidised courses.
Traineeship incentives may be applicable on full time/ part time basis, subject to eligibility. Enrolment fees apply.
